Sphinx Solutions worked with Rainman Desalination, an Australian company that makes portable desalination systems. Their AC Electric Watermaker helps people on boats or in remote areas turn seawater into fresh drinking water. The goal of this project was to build a mobile app for Android and iOS that connects to the watermaker and helps users see what’s happening inside the machine in real-time.
Our team created an app that uses Bluetooth to pair with the watermaker. Once connected, users can track things like pressure levels, system status, and runtime on their phones. If anything goes wrong, the app shows fault signals right away. We additionally introduced an assist phase with videos, consumer manuals, and step-by-step guides to ensure users can without difficulty restoration common issues on their own. The layout is easy and clean to apply, even in rough outdoor situations.
The result is a smart companion app that makes using the Rainman watermaker a lot simpler. There was no method for customers to receive real-time updates or notifications, making the overall experience less efficient and occasionally annoying, particularly for those using the product in distant or tough situations.
They wanted a way to make the watermaker smarter, something that could help users stay informed, catch issues early, and manage everything from their phone. However, because this was intended to link a machine to a mobile app through Bluetooth, it necessitated careful planning, correct hardware connectivity.
Furthermore, the app has to feature properly even without net connectivity, offer step-by-step instructions, and be simple enough for all of us to apply, whether on a ship or off-grid. Rainman sought a tech partner that could comprehend these real-world difficulties and transform them into a functional mobile solution. That’s when they approached Sphinx Solutions.
Solutions Statement
To solve the core issues, our team at Sphinx Solutions designed and developed a custom Android app that connects directly to the Rainman AC Electric Watermaker using Bluetooth. This allowed users to pair their phones with the device and get live system data right on the screen. They could now easily check pressure levels, system status, and runtime without opening the machine or relying on guesswork.
We also added a smart fault detection feature. When there is a problem, such as a drop in pressure or anything not working properly, the app provides an instant notice. In addition, we established a complete support centre that includes videos, troubleshooting hints, and downloadable manuals. This made it simple for users to correct minor errors on their own, without the need for assistance or printed instructions.
The design crew prioritised an easy, glove-friendly interface that plays well in harsh situations, like aquatic situations. The utility is lightweight, runs properly even without a web connection, and provides an easy, pressure-free experience.
