For captains: stream your trips live
Mount a GoPro, go live, and let anglers watch the whole charter unfold. No production crew required.
Overview
Game On Fishing is a live charter streaming app. Captains stream their trips straight from the deck, and anglers watch the action unfold, interact with the crew, follow their favourite captains and browse live streams while the fish are still biting.
One app, two decks: whether you’re holding the rod or the camera, Game On Fishing splits into the right experience the moment you choose.
Sphinx Solutions designed and built the app for iOS and Android. A first-run choice sends each person down one of two paths: Boat, for the content provider streaming a trip through a GoPro, or Fishing Enthusiast, for the fan exploring live charters and finding locations.
Each path has its own navigation. Captains get a single large Go Live button with their broadcast history behind it, while anglers get Live, Archive, Following, Location and Profile.
Client Requirement
01
Mount a GoPro, go live, and let anglers watch the whole charter unfold. No production crew required.
02
Follow your favourite captains, get notified when they go live, and jump into live streams anytime.
A charter trip is hard to share. It happens miles offshore, on a moving deck, with a crew whose hands are full, and the moment worth watching lasts only as long as the fish stays on the line.
Going live had to take a captain one tap, because nobody on a working boat has time for a production.
Video had to hold up on a mobile connection at sea and reach viewers quickly enough that a reaction in the chat still meant something to the crew.
Two very different people use the app. A captain wants to start a stream and get back to fishing, and an angler wants to find something worth watching right now.
And a live moment is gone once it ends, so trips had to stay watchable afterwards, and followers had to hear about the next one.
We split one app into two focused experiences, chosen on first launch, on top of a shared live streaming core.
How We Work
Step 1
The trip begins, the GoPro connects, and the boat goes live with one tap.
Step 2
Viewers find the stream through Live, a captain they follow, or by browsing a city they’re travelling to.
Step 3
Ask about tackle, react to the catch, and follow the boat so the next trip lands in your notifications.
Step 4
Every stream is archived automatically, so anglers can watch a trip again on demand.
Implementation
Broadcast the full trip in HD from a GoPro or phone, with no editing between the water and the viewer.
Get notified when your followed captains go live and when fish hit the line.
Every broadcast is saved with view counts, so anglers can watch a season of trips before choosing a boat.
Rates, years on the water, boat specs and target species: the details anglers actually decide on.
Connect directly with charter operators to discuss trips, availability, and details.
Impact
Under a second from deck to screen.
1080p that holds up over LTE.
To assess the conditions in real time.
Receive notifications when a fish is on the line.
Every stream archived automatically.
Tech stack
In closing
Every stream on Game On Fishing carries the context that makes the action easy to follow: what’s biting, how the crew reacts, and what the water is doing right now.
For Sphinx Solutions, the work was keeping two very different journeys simple inside one app, so that a captain can go live with one tap and an angler can be watching moments later, on iOS or Android.
