Which one suits depends on what you are authoring and who is authoring it, but the tools most widely used are:
Designing and building an application to your own requirements rather than adapting to a product’s. It covers planning, market research, UI and UX design, front-end and back-end development, and testing, the same sequence any bespoke build follows, applied to teaching.
An eLearning application typically starts around $35,000 and runs to about $70,000. Where a given project lands depends on complexity, the platforms and stack chosen, and the rates and location of the team building it.
Up to a point, and it is a reasonable way to validate an idea. The sequence:
It depends on complexity, team size, the stack and what is already in place. As a rough guide: planning and research one to two months, interface design one to two months, development three to six months depending on complexity, testing one to two months, and deployment one to two weeks. Maintenance is ongoing.
Experience with the accessibility and data-protection obligations an education platform carries: these systems hold identity data on minors as often as not, and that is not a detail to discover late. Beyond that: a team that will stay with the platform after launch, and one that has built both the administrative side and the learner-facing side, because an LMS and an LXP are not the same product.
